Chili-Blackcurrant RÜÜBE Wins Silver Medal in the Flavored Vodkas Category at Craft Spirits Berlin 2022

Our chili-blackcurrant RÜÜBE achieved the highest score in the flavored vodkas category at the Craft Spirits Berlin 2022 competition, held at the beginning of 2022, earning a silver medal (no gold was awarded) – thus receiving the highest recognition among flavored vodkas in 2022. The Craft Spirits Berlin Festival is Europe’s most important trade fair for handmade spirits. The fair’s motto is: “Regionally and sustainably produced craft spirits – exclusively and only from natural ingredients.”

Distilleries and producers of spirits present their products at this fair every year, attracting restaurant owners, bartenders, specialized retailers, and interested audiences.

We participated in the fair in 2020 and only in the competition and award ceremony in 2022. Rüübe vodkas have previously won awards at the competition – in 2020, we brought home one silver and two bronze medals from the Craft Spirits Berlin fair.

The main goal of participating in the competition has been to confirm that the quality and flavors we create are interesting and accepted by the public. To our pleasant surprise, all the drinks we submitted to the competition have won awards.

In 2022, the Craft Spirits Berlin Awards ceremony was held as a live event once again. Numerous participants from Germany and many other countries came to receive their medals. It was a grand gathering of the international craft distillers’ scene. The event took place at Säälchen, an event venue in the legendary Holzmarkt district of Berlin. Those who couldn’t make it to Berlin could follow the results announcement via a live webcast.

A total of 666 products from 25 countries were submitted to the competition, making the Craft Spirits Berlin Awards the largest and most important international competition for handmade spirits. The jury meeting was decentralized: 24 experts from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Hungary, Denmark, and the United Kingdom received samples in numbered, unmarked bottles, and the evaluation was carried out via a digital platform. The jury was connected to the Berlin organizing team via video transmission. In addition to awards based on blind tasting results, Craft Spirits Berlin also honors those who have made special contributions to craft distilling. Special awards were given in five categories. This year, the special awards went to England, Mexico, and Austria.
